Welcome!

Welcome to Darwen Camera Club's website.

Darwen Camera Club dates back over 100 years and throughout our long history we have remained informal and friendly, appealing to photography enthusiasts young and old across the local community.

Whatever your photographic experience and ambition, if you're looking to improve your photography then Darwen Camera Club's weekly programme will have something to interest you, including monthly print and digital competitions, regular talks from experienced speakers in the area, reviews of the best work entered in regional and national competitions as well as practical sessions covering digital editing software.

The club is affiliated to the Lancashire & Cheshire Photographic Union (L&CPU) and the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB), and both these bodies orgainse their own annual competitions where the standard is always extremely high.  Many club members enter these competitions to learn from against the best photographers in the country and test their work against them.

The club are always keen to welcome prospective new members, so whatever your interest in photography, why not come along to our next meeting?

We're now on Facebook too - if you're on Facebook, please 'like' our Facebook page to see regular updates, news and information about the club, plus a selection of our best work.

Latest updates to the site

02 May: Results of our April monthly competition have been added to our Competition Results page and our News page, along with a look forward to our next meeting on 14th May.

13 Apr: It's been a while since our last updates as there was no meeting last week due to the Easter holidays... but we've now updated our News page with a review of our table-top photography evening and a look ahead to our meeting of 16 April, where we're reviewing last year's ICPA monochrome prints.  We've also updated our Gallery page with the top placed images from March's monthly competition, and added details of this year's Darwen Civic Society competition on our News page.

What does Darwen mean to you?

The Meeting by Bill Senior, an unusual view of Darwen's iconic landmark

Since our new website was launched, each month we've used the new page format to showcase some of our best images of Darwen.

What does Darwen mean to you though? Get out and about in Darwen and send in your best pictures of the town, the local countryside, parks, people or events - basically any good quality images that portrays Darwen (and therefore the club) in a positive light. The only restriction is that your pictures must be in a 'letterbox' format to fit on the page.

We'll take images from both members and non-members, so if you like our site and you've taken a great picture representing Darwen in some way then email your photos along with your name to web@darwencameraclub.org.uk and you never know - you might see them on this site!
